News out of the Middle East is more often than not about chaos and destruction. However, good news is happening all the time without much in the way of reporting. I visited Cairo four years ago. I am so thrilled to hear that the church and pastor I visited at the time are still part of what I find to be a movement of God in the midst of pure evil… absolutely astonishing… just two blocks from Tahrir Square.
Story from NRB below:
Despite the threat of political protests following a recent government decision in Egypt, roughly 5,000 people reportedly gathered this past weekend to hear Dr. Michael Youssef preach in Cairo, Egypt, with many more watching via the live satellite broadcasts of his ministry’s 24/7 satellite television channel, THE KINGDOM SAT.
According to Dr. Youssef’s ministry, Leading The Way, at least 500 people responded to Dr. Youssef’s clear invitation to salvation during his three-day preaching event.
During the first evening of the event, a heavy military presence was reportedly outside the church, bracing for protests in Tahrir Square.
On the last evening, brief technical issues interrupted the live broadcast.
Yet in spite of distractions and spiritual opposition, Leading The Way reported God did a mighty work in the lives of those who attended, drawing many to salvation and encouraging the body of Christ.
“Thank you for your prayers and partnership for this exciting three-day evangelistic outreach,” the ministry said in a recent blog post. “We invite you to continue praying with us for these new believers in Christ and for a mighty move of God’s Spirit to continue throughout the church, city, and nation.”
