On the last night of Harvest SoCal with Greg Laurie, Mel Gibson (The Passion of the Christ, Braveheart, Lethal Weapon, Mad Max), made a surprise guest appearance and was challenged by Laurie for an impromptu arm wrestling match. However, the two mutually agreed to stop and Gibson called it a “dead heat” shortly after starting.
In addition to talking about the making of The Passion, Gibson discussed the importance of making films with “real-life” action heroes and not with characters wearing Spandex.
“I made the ultimate super hero film with the making of The Passion of the Christ,” Gibson told Laurie and the 36,000 in attendance at Angel Stadium on Sunday, as well as a live online audience. “…real super heroes don’t wear Spandex and they don’t have a lot of 3D special effects.”
He also talked about the upcoming film, Hacksaw Ridge, scheduled for a November release.
