We are creatures of comfort and the homeless in L.A. display ingenuity often, showing us so with the help of a seemingly endless summer.
Driving underneath a freeway overpass recently I saw a camp of tents, boxes, and yes, this couch filled the embankment and parts of the sidewalk. Obviously, there must have been some grace on the part of city officials to let this tiny “under pass” city exist if only for a brief time.
I wondered how the occupants spent their time. Did they simply watch the cars go by while “kicking it?” A good night’s rest must be hard to come by. I pray we get to know these people. After all, they live here.
