PASTORS.COM — You probably use photos in your church every week to enliven your printed or electronic media. What if you could use photos of people in your church instead of relying on stale stock photos?
According to Jim Dobbs, the staff leader of Saddleback’s Photographers In Christ’s Service (PICS) ministry and the church’s creative director, it may not be as difficult as you think. Volunteers at Saddleback started up PICS, and it was originally a way to visually document the Global P.E.A.C.E. Plan. Since then the ministry has expanded to include all aspects of church life. Almost three years later, Saddleback no longer uses stock photos. More than 150 volunteer photographers are now a part of the ministry.
“PICS images make Saddleback Church personable and real and visually tell the story of what our church is all about,” Dobbs said. “Their service helps us make a ‘big church small.’”
